Garden of Eden residents held against will; Organic crops ‘misidentified’ and destroyed
Arlington, Texas residents of Garden of Eden, a peaceful off-grid community that practices permaculture and autonomy, have filed a lawsuit against law enforcement officers regarding a 2012 “drug” raid on their property, which resulted in intentional obliteration of the community’s tomato plants and several arrests.
After the bust, law enforcement realized it had erroneously “misidentified” Garden of Eden’s tomato plants for marijuana plants. The error is what allows armed officers to obtain a warrant before storming the neighborhood. Residents have filed suit alleging violations of the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments.
